Ben Gant Trumpet

Ben Gant is a UK based trumpeter/pianist and educator. Over the past ten years he has had his own chair in three of the West-Ends biggest productions namely ‘South Pacific’, ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ and ‘The Producers’. Ben has been involved with London Musici and the Rambert Dance Company throughout this period and has performed in the world premier of “Bloom” by Aletta Collins at Sadlers Wells, as well as performing solo work by Stuart Dempster with the Merce Cunningham Dance Company from Washington DC.

In the orchestral world Ben works regularly with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Mozart Players, Opera North, the London Pops Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra and Camerata Wales.

Ben is a member of the group ‘The Shapeshifters’ who had a UK1 Hit with ‘Lola’s Theme’ in the summer of 2005. Other commercial credits include performances/recordings with Mark Ronson, Jack White, The Last Shadow Puppets, Will Young, Tim Burgess, Sheryl Crow, Lulu, Lisa Stansfield, The Corrs, Katherine Jenkins and many others. Ben has recorded on the soundtracks and appeared in the films ‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’ and ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ as well as playing on numerous TV signature tunes including ‘Boxing Academy’ and ‘Linda Green’.

Ben is currently a visiting lecturer/coach at the Royal Academy of Music, Trinity College of Music and Leeds College of Music and has recently been appointed an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. He is an Eclipse Trumpet Artist and plays their trumpets and flugel horns exclusively.
